How To Get Your Readers To Comment On Your Blog
Successful blogging requires good content and good traffic. If your blog has good readership, it indirectly means that you have good content and as a results you will receive comments on the posts. It is in every blogger’s wish-list that he/she receives good comments on the articles they post.
But a recent study by Darren Rowse, a popular blogger from problogger.com says that only 1 out of 100 readers comment or contribute to the blog they had been to. This is due to the fact that people just want to know what the content on the blog is and leave the blog when they are done with collecting information.
It is you, as a blogger, who needs go that extra mile to get more comments on your blog. Unless you encourage your readers to do so, they will not comment and will be happy just with the content you post. It is completely your duty to make your readers comment on the posts you publish.
Provide your readers a chance to comment on your blog by encouraging them to do so. Engage them actively on your blog and get the valuable comments flow in your blog.

Here’s a list of some exciting techniques to boost your blog’s comments. These are the tips I have tried and found successful with one of my blogs which features auto trader and woot discount coupons.
Interact with your readers
Always respond to the comments you receive on the posts you put on your blog. This might help you strike an interesting conversation with the commentator and thereby converting it into a discussion. Most likely, it is possible that other readers will stop by to read the thread and may share the comments too.
An interesting way to be in touch with the readers is to get notified as and when you receive the comments. Have Subscribe to comments plug-in and help yourself/your readers to get notified once the comments start pouring in (uncheck the box by default).
Make it easy to comment
Help the readers to comment the easy way on your blog. Do not force them to register before commenting or pop-up the comments in the post in between. Many blogs have the registration form and need to log-in (register) to comment.
It may certainly not interest many readers as it is time-consuming. Though it does reduce spam, it also reduces your comments that might have got a place in your blog’s comments section.
Always Acknowledge
Acknowledge the readers who have posted good comments on your blog. It goes on to show that you, as a blogger have taken efforts to express your gratitude towards the reader /commentator.
You can create a fun-filled act of starting a fan page and displaying the ‘best commentator of the week’ on it. A popular WordPress plug-in “Top Commentators Widget” displays the top commentators in the sidebar which invariably promotes more discussions and comments in the post.
Get out of your blog
Yes, you need to go out of your world of blogging and get in touch with your fellow bloggers. Visit and read their blogs and you will get noticed outside your blog in no time. Leave meaningful, short (depends on your view) and thoughtful comments on your fellow bloggers regularly.
It will work in your favour resulting rewards and these fellow bloggers may pay you with more comments on your blog spot. What an act of reciprocation! Commenting on other’s blog always works even if you are just a beginner. You can use my effective blog commenting strategy to start with.
Linking works
Write posts that are interesting and attract links from your readers. It can help in important discussions, not just about the post but also more about the content in the links in the comments. When you link to one of your reader’s posts, you often double-link it to your homepage as well.
Linking to other blogs helps to gain search rankings for the blogger. Providing good useful and interesting blog posts will cater to the needs of a larger readership. Syndicating RSS feeds on your blog will find its way to the interested readers.
Commentluv is a plug-in that allows commenter to have a link a recent post. Truly contributing to one’s blog (in the form of comments) may work wonders for your blog simultaneously.
Just to make it simple for you to get more comments, present your content in a format. Have a good flow of language and be out of spam bucket. You cannot expect a huge burst of comments especially if you are a beginner. The above techniques will garner good readership and promote your blog over time.
