How to Send/Recieve Twitter updates via Mobile Phone (SMS) in Pakistan

If you are in Pakistan and know about Pring – Mobile Social Network in Pakistan, then let me tell you first that service is getting popular everyday despite being still in beta mode. Since I’ve already reviewed Pring, you can read more about Pring here.

The best thing about Pring is that it lets you connect to your facebook and twitter accounts at the same time so you can receive sms alerts of your friends updates’ on facebook and people you’re following on twitter.

As Twitter Mobile is still not offered for Pakistani users, so some third party services solved this issue like Mobi2Tweet and now by Pring. You can not only send but can also RECEIVE twitter updates of people you’re following right on your cell phone via text messages.

Although from Mobi2tweet you can update twitter status, but cannot receive tweets from others, but connecting your pring account to twitter you can now receive tweets too!

If you haven’t subscribed to Pring yet, It is required to register yourself first there. You can also register from your mobile phone, but in order to receive updates from twitter, you need to login to Pring’s website to allow pring to access your twitter account.

1. Login to Pringit.com

2. Go to Settings>Network

3. Click the “Connect with Twitter” button.

4. You’ll be redirected to you twitter profile where Pring will ask you to allow access to your twitter account. Click “Allow” and you’ll be back to your pring’s profile page.

That’s it! from then on you’ll see all tweets on your cell phone from people you’re following and also you can tweet your status via sms as well.

After connecting you can do two things:

1. Receive Twitter friends’ updates on Pring (from both web and cell)

2. Set Twitter status update via web or cell.

If you go to your Pring’s Settings>Network page again, you’ll see two options:


- Full Twitter Synchronization

In the Full Synchronization mode. Any update you do on Pring will be reflected on your Twitter account as a status update.
This means whenever you send a message/update to pring, will be automatically tweeted on your twitter profile.

– Selective Twitter Synchronization

In this mode you will need to add @tw before any update to make it appear on twitter. So if you have this option enabled updates without @tw will not become your twitter status. So updates with @tw either from Pring will become your tweets while those which do not start with @tw will only set on Pring.

To turn this thing off, go to Pring Settings>Network again, and click “Disconnect” button to turn off twitter connection.
