Windows Vista and Windows 7 users have a small built in feature of capturing screenshots known as – Snipping Tool. But Windows XP users do not have any application like this in Windows’ built in programs list. What about them? Do they have to use the PrintScreen key with MSPaint to capture screenshots, or have to install complete professional screen capturing applications, like Snagit, to take quick screenshots? The answer is NO.

Windows XP users can still get the same snipping tool that Vista and 7 users have – Snippy is the tool’s name for XP users.

Snippy is a tiny application that makes screen capturing a snap! Simply click on the little Snippy icon in the taskbar notification area, and mark out the region of the screen that you want to copy — that’s it, you’re done! The cut-out image will now be in your clipboard, and you can paste it in another application.

If you want to select a rectangular area, just hold down the Shift key while dragging. You can configure some things like the color of the border and so on by right-clicking on the Snippy icon in the taskbar.

The Best thing is, you don’t to install the application, Snippy is just a standalone .exe file which you can run from anywhere even from your desktop – you just have to extract the file from .zip

Note: Snippy is exclusively made for Windows XP and only works for this version of Windows.
