Google is rapidly updating their browser: Chrome. After its stable version 2, there was a very short time period between release of version 3 and all new Chrome v 4.0.302.0 beta. Yes, Chrome 4 is still in beta but has many new promising features like "Bookmark synchronization".


While the interface is pretty much the same, with the same functionalities in "options". But Yeah.. the "New Tab" is redesigned, with floating web thumbnails for quick access to recently visited sites.

List View is added to replace the thumbnails, use list view to save some milli seconds for quicker opening of new tab page. :-D

Definitely this version is much faster than the previous ones, added with more "powerful" Javascript support but still lacks some functionalities which will be fixed in the final stable version.. we hope! :p.



You can pin any site's thumbnail you want, so that it wont go anywhere when you delete the recently visited history. And off course you may hide these thumbnails completely and as well as the recently closed links in the bottom of the page.

Find Font's Name From an Image

Few days ago I was searching for a specific font that I once used to make a banner for one of my websites. I had lost the font from my system and all I had was that (.jpg) banner. I searched and I found it extremely time consuming to search and preview manually all the fonts from hundreds of fonts websites over internet for the one that I want and never found it .

While searching I landed on a really cool website "What the Font?!" with a smart font recognition system, means that you can upload any picture with the font you want to search and the website's database matches your font (in your pic) with the fonts in its database.

1. Open WhatTheFont?!

2. To search the name of the font, upload the image having the font and click "Upload Image".

3. You'll be taken to next page, where image recognition system does its job, recognizing and separating each character from the image and displaying in the text box in front of each character.



If any character is ignored or not recognized, you may insert the character manually in the boxes to get more accurate results.


4. Click Search button in the bottom of the page, to proceed to next step, where all the relevant fonts are displayed.

Move the browser's scroll bar, to move your image over the searched fonts previews for matching.



5. Click the Font's title which you think is the most relevant. On the next screen you have the option to buy the font since none of the fonts are available free to download! :)

Remove Navbar from Top of Blogger Blog

Blogger's navbar is the navigation bar that appears on top of all blogger powered blogs. Most of the new bloggers try to remove this bar as soon as they create their blog as the bar makes a blog look less professional.

Secondly, when a visitor on your blog clicks "next blog" on the navbar, he'll be redirect to some new blog on the same window making your blog disappear from the view.

To remove or hide the blogger navbar from the top, follow the steps:

1. Go to your Layout of your blogger account.
2. Then in "Edit HTML" tab.
3. Find (Ctrl+F)

Make web links "bold" automatically in Blogger Blog Posts

To make the web links/URL's in your blog posts promininet, making them bold by adding <b></b> is the easiest way to catch the readers attention towards web links in the posts.

Because in most of the blogger templates, you'll see that while reading, it is difficult to differentiate between plain text and web links.

Unless they change color when mouse cursor is hovered over them. Readers might miss the links that look exactly the same as plain text.


So, adding <b></b> aroung the link(s) in your blog posts, is the easisest way to make link(s) prominent.
But consider a post that you are writing with 100 links in it.
What will you do, to make all of them prominent? Make them all bold, by adding <b></b> tags one by one?

Definitely nobody will like to do that!

So, I have a very simple solution for this that will make all the links bold in your blog posts automatically, as soon as you publish. So, you dont have to worry about adding <b></b> tags around each and every web link while writing.

1. Go to your blog's template, "Edit HTML" page.

2. Downloading the Template's backup is always recommended before making any changes, So download the backup!

3. Search (Press Ctrl+F)

3. And Just ABOVE it copy/paste the following code:

4. Hit "Preview " button first. If it works, then you should "Save".


In the code above, first line makes the links bold, and second line makes all the links underlined whenever mouse is hovered over them.

That's it!

This little change in the template, will make the all the links bold automatically, in all the posts that you have already published, and in the posts that you will make from now on.

Activate Kaspersky 2010 Products Using .key File

By default in Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2010, option to register using .key file is missing and most of the Kaspersky users who have updated to 2010 series are finding it difficult to activate using a .key file as the option to activate KIS 2010 or KAV 2010 is completely missing in 2010 series.

It either asks you to activate using a genuine key by registering online or to activate a 30-day trial period online.

But if you have a .key and want to register using that, here's a little trick to open "Activate using key file" option in kaspersky 2010.


1. Open "License Manager"



2. Click "Activate New License" from the two options given.
3. Choose "Activate Commercial License"



and Enter any of the codes below in the box:

Extract and Save icons (.ico) from EXE and DLL

To change the icon of any application's shortcut, you right click for properties, click change icon button, browse and set the desired icon. By default you see the same old icon provided by shell32.dll of the Windows.

Moreover if you want to change the icon with some other application's icon stored on your system, you can even do that too by browsing that application's .exe. Preview it and apply the icon. BUT you can only preview it, what if you want extract that icon from that .exe and save it?



As most of the applications store their icons directly in their .exe's, which hides those icons and make it literally impossible to extract the icons from the .exe's without using any application which can extract these icons for you.

Inserting Adsense ads inside Blogger Blog Posts

Placing adsense inside the blog posts increases adsense ads CTR (click through rate).

Using simple layout page, you can place these ads anywhere in your blogger blog, like in the sidebar, before posts, below posts even between the posts, but by using any gadget, you can't place them INSIDE any post.

WHY TO PLACE ADS INSIDE POSTS?

There's no gadget available to place adsense ads inside the posts. So, to Place adsense ads inside a blogger post, you have to modify the template a little bit to place the adsense code in there.

And if you dont know, then let me tell you that CTR of the ads inside the blog posts is much more higher than the ads outside posts.

There are dozens of articles explaining this method of placing ads, but most of them are either poorly explained or without any screenshot. But here I'll try to keep the procedure as simple as possible.

So, here it is:

INSTALLATION

1. Get your adsense code, and Encode it before placing.
To do the encoding, you can use "Postable" or use other sites given here.

2. Now, go to Layout section and "Edit HTML" tab.

3. Its always recommended to download a backup of your template before making some changes. So download the template!

4. Click "Expand Widget Template" checkbox.

5. Press "Ctrl+F" and find:

<data:post.body/>

If you are using "Expandable Post Summaries" in your template, then you'll find <p><data:post.body/></p> and infact two of them.
In that case, you are supposed to place the adsense code above the first

<p><data:post.body/></p>


6. Now Copy the code below and paste it just ABOVE the tag you searched in step 5.

...Don't forget to replace the text in red with your encoded adsense ad code, that you have done in step 1.
These <b:if> and <div>tags will decide the alignment of your ad. So dont leave these while pasting the adsense code.

DONE! After doing this step, An adsense ad will be placed just below the title and above the text of EACH and EVERY post of your Blogger blog automatically.

PLACING ANOTHER AD INSIDE POSTS

Now if you want to place another ad inside posts, but below the text of the post..You can search fo the same tag of step 5.
But this time place the code (of step 6) BELOW it.

This will place another adsense ad below the text of all the posts of your blog automatically.

Now you have 2 adsense units INSIDE your blog posts. One Just below the titles/above the text and second at the end of the posts' text. :)

Your code should look like this after placing the ads code.



The highlighted gray area is the tag that you have to search.
Highlighted green area is the (encoded) adsense code.
Highlighted red are the <b:if> and <div> tags that assign the alignment of the ads. I highlighted them, just to make the picture clear and easy to understand.
(Don't leave these tags while copying from step 6!!)

CUSTOMIZATIONS:

You can change the placement and alignments of these ads within the post.

ALIGNMENT

Just change the "center" (in blue) in step 6, to "right" or "left", to change the ad's alignments respectively.

PLACEMENT

You can also place the ads side by side inside the post.
To do this, you have to place both the ads, either ABOVE or BELOW

And after that, make one ad to float "left" and the other one to float "right". :)

Remember:

You can place maximum 3 adsense units on a page as per Google's Terms. If you are placing 2 inside the post, then you can place only one outside the post.
Like I placed, 1 in side bar, 1 inside the posts (just below titles) and remaining 1 below posts and just above "Related post". ;)

Hope you have got the simple procedure.

Tip:

Instead of viewing your blog after saving changes in the template after each step. Use "Preview" feature for quick views.
Although clicking is not enabled in preview window, but there's a little trick, to enable clicking in preview...

While the preview window is loading, quickly click any post title as soon as you see any. This will open that post in the preview window, and clicking will also be enabled. You can then see the changes you've made! ;-)

Play Real Media (.rm) files in Windows Media Player

If you are Windows Media Player fan and like to organize and play all your media files in Windows Media Player but have installed and using Real Player just to play those .rm media files.
Then you dont need Real Player anymore, because you can use "Real Alternative".

A really small codec that integrates with Windows Media Player and makes it able to play real media files.

Uncheck the option of installing "Media Player Classic"



And make your existing Windows Media Player the default player for all Real Media files.

All the Bloggers of Blogger.com know that inserting HTML/JavaScript code into the posts directly is not allowed, as it is parsed automatically by blogger.com's XML parser and if you do so and publish the post , you see absolutely nothing in the published post!!

I prefer and use first one "Postable", because of its simple and quick ajaxified interface.

So, all you have to do is, copy the original HTML/JavaScript code you want to show deliberately in posts, and paste in any of the above sites, click convert button.
After conversion, Copy the converted code and paste it anywhere you like to place in your posts.

You'll see all the HTML/JavaScript tags intact and shown exactly as they were in the original piece of code that you wanted to show deliberately.
