Increase Torrent Download Speed- The Easy Way!

Torrent Downloading is just like a task that DSL internet users do on daily basis while surfing!
Movies, Songs, Videos, Games, Software.. almost everything is available in a "torrent shell"!

Almost all of us download torrent frequently, and there would be very few among us, who don't do torrent downloading or don't know about torrents! :p


If you have a DSL internet connection and download torrents frequently and not satisfied with the download speed, then this little trick is definitely for you!
Which would increase torrent download speed noticeably.

What we are doing in here is trying to create a "Virtual Server" with our internet connection, which reserves a unique port with our IP.
Thus giving no chance to our torrent client to share resources elsewhere, and it can concentrate only on the downloading through the unique port which we have defined, giving the as maximum download speed possible.

No doubt that download speeds will totally rely on your connection speed!
It doesn't mean after doing this little tweaking, torrent downloads, even on slower DSL connections will give as fast downloading as on faster DSL connections. :p


Remember: This tricks works only on DSL broadband internet subscribers.

OK, here we go,Just follow the steps:


1. Open uTorrent, and check what port is uTorrent using currently.
But before that First go to Options>Preferences>Connection settings or simply press (Ctrl+P) and uncheck "Enable UPnP Port Mapping" check box if checked.
and Click OK.

Now go to Options>Speed Guide or Press (Ctrl+G) to open Speed Guide window, which shows you the port currently being used by uTorrent.


2. On that Speed Guide window, Click "Test if Port is forwarded properly" button.

This will open your internet browser's windows, showing whether this port is open or not.
If it is open, an OK Message is shown.
Otherwise an error will be shown.


3. If Port is not open,

...go to "Speed Guide" Option again, and change the port number.
Type any unique 5-digit port number you like. (Max. 65535)
...and Click "Test if Port is forwarded properly" button again.

4. Repeat the Process with unique port numbers until a working and open port is found!!

[If you found this method bit slow and tiring, you can download a tiny utility "Port Checker" From HERE that checks ports that are open for your IP]

5.After successful port hunting, Note down the Port Number that works for you.


6. Now, Open your Internet browser, enter your (DSL) server's IP.

(Usually 192.168.1.1 is the default)
It'll ask for an username/password for this secured HTTP server.

7. Enter username/password.
That'll open your DSL device settings main page.

By Default a username and password is already associated with your device.
(If you dont know this username/password, ask your serivce technical support for this.)
In most of the cases, username is "Admin" and password is either "Password" or "admin"

[Here I am using "HUAWEI MT880" Router, and "admin" is the default username and password for this.]

8. From the settings page that opens, Choose "Virtual Server" from Advance Settings Collapsible panel.


(Note: This settings page may look different on your device, so you'll have to find these settings yourself using a little bit of your brain! :p)

You may find this settings as, "Port Forward", "Port Mapping", "Port Mapping Set/Settings", "NAT/DMZ", "Routing", "Port Range Forward" and names similar to these....

9. Now start filling some fields on the "Virtual server" page;


Leave Status setting default.
That is Enabled.

In Name field; Give any Name you like.
Like I gave "utor". You can write anything, It doesn't matter!

In Private IP, give your system's IP.

Leave Protocol Type to TCP.

Now this is the trick we've been talking about!
....Port Forwarding!! ;)

Type in the same port number that was approved open by uTorrent.
In both Private Port & Public Port.


Leave Schedule to default.


10. Save the settings and you're done!! :-D

Now Go and download some torrent and see the difference in speed !!

Forget Default Windows Files Search, Try "Everything"- Fastest Desktop Searching Engine

If you frequently search files and folders in your windows powered PC, then you must know the step by step process ;)

If you are XP user, you open the windows explorer, click search button, An annoying little animated character shows up asking "what do you want to search", you select the required option, then type in the file name,hit the search button again.
Even if you have the Fastest PC of all, it takes a while to retrieve the files you search for!!
No doubt Its bit quicker in Windows Vista & onwards, but still, it takes few seconds!

But Now I've found "Everything". A fantastic little searching utility to help you search the files or folders,as you type,with a single click, right from your desktop !!




Everything is a Freeware Desktop Searching utility, that locates files and folders by filenames instantly for Windows PC.
Unlike Windows search "Everything" displays every file and folder on your computer.

Yes, there are dozens of searching softwares available on net.
Like;
Google Desktop search.
Microsoft's Windows Search (For Windows XP and earlier)
Copernic Desktop Search.
...and lot of others like these.

But Believe me I've used them all, and found none of them as impressive as "Everything".

In "Features List" of above mentioned desktop searching tools,you will see everything except their "Indexing time" (the time they take to index all the files/folders of your system).
Let me tell you... they take several hours and even days, depending on the numbers of files and size of hard drive.

But believe it or not, "Everything" indexes all your file/folders as soon as you open it!
Yes It shocked me too!
It took about 6-8 seconds to index my 80 GB hard drive :-D

Take a look at the size of its database file, it created on my PC.

This tiny desktop searcher takes very few space in memory.
In my 80 GB case,Its taking just 4MB! ;)

After quick indexing, it places itself in taskbar from where it can be accessed with a double click.

And shows ALL of the files and folders on the main window, including the system files and the hidden files.

If you dont want the search results to be applied on the hidden or system files, simply goto the options>Exclude and Check the options to your needs.
User defined files/folder can also be added to the exclusion list.

You can also use Wild cards, just like in traditional windows searching.

After using and observing the features, I concluded these results:

Positives:
- Instant Single Click Searching.
- Very Low on Resources.
- Searches real time the files changing.
- Updates its database on every system restart.
- Supports all Windows Version, including Windows 7.
- Searching possible on Remote Systems.


Negatives:
- Unlike Google Desktop Search, it Searches only Files names, not the content of the files.
- Works only on NTFS Drives.


If your search results is showing nothing or excluding files of any of your partitions, then it means your whole hard drive or a specific partition is not on NTFS.
But Dont worry! you can change the file system to NTFS, without the loss of data with a simple command.

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, Click RUN, type cmd, press OK.

2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:

convert e: /fs:ntfs

Note: If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.

3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER:

The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter:

4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt:
Conversion complete

5. Quit the command prompt.

After conversion to NTFS, you will have to manually include that partition(s) to "Everything's" database.
Goto Options>Volumes>
Select the drive(s) that is recently converted to NTFS
and Check "Check media" & "Enable USN Journal Logging" check boxes.



Thats it!.. from now on, files on newly converted partition(s) will also be included in search results.

BitDefender 2009 : Its Light,Effective,Impressive and Cracked!!

If you call anti virus the most important or must have program installed in your system, then it wouldn't be wrong.

Since my day one with computers, I have tried and used almost ALL antivirus software out there.
I had been a great fan of Kaspersky Products for the past two years.
But, Bit Defender Total Security 2009 is the product this time ....




But if you are a Kaspersky fan too, then you must know that Kaspersky labs has tighten their security regarding piracy thing...and has blocked all the pirated registration keys that were being used around the world.
