Files Sharing: Drag-Drop-Sent!

File sharing is the most frequent thing we do over net. Specially when you're working with your colleagues and want to share some files.

Remember? I wrote blog post about cl1p.net ?

That was a good alternative...But Things get better as the time goes by...:)

Yup, you guessed it right! I've discovered something new exciting and easier than before. :)

Drop.io is the site I'm talking about !

With no sign up required, it is probably the quickest way to upload and share files.

When you open the site, an auto generated link will be there for your new files or "drop" (that's what they call it! :p) You can change that link after drop.io/

like; drop.io/zainfiles ...make sure its unique and not taken already.

The good thing is your custom created link never expires ! :)

After selecting the link, Upload your files and Click "Drop it".

Now you must be saying.. Oh! That's the same old way to uploading files.. What's new in it?

....Right? :p

But the BEST thing about drop.io is its "drag n drop" feature. A simple Firefox ad on makes our lives lot easier!

The drag & drop.io allows you to ‘drag and drop’ files from your desktop (and even other web pages) directly into a new or existing ‘drop’. It is the EASIEST way possible to put any sort of media on the web and share it with exactly whom you want. Just select the files you want to upload, drop them on a .io icon, and you are good to go. :)

After installing the ad on, you can set one default drop.io account if you like. Doing that, all your drops will go into the same default account you set.

OR you can leave it to default settings, i-e new drop.io account for each drop.

But that's not all. You still leaving LOTS of features to be discovered with your newly created account.

You can play with your drops in many ways.

You can: 1. Create Custom notes

2. Create List of bookmarks/URLs ( Don't forget to drag n drop that quick add links button on your Firefox's toolbar)

3. Send Voicemail via your phone. (You'll be given unique cell number for that. Call that number, record anything, drop.io will automatically convert that to .mp3 and upload to your drop)

4. Have your own email ID (Send any file attached via email to that ID, it'll automatically be added to your drops)

5. Auto fetch files from any webpage. (Give any direct link to any file and click "Fetch".. file will be checked and added to your drops list, without touching your computer) :p

6. Share your blog (Yes! along with a unique email ID, you are also given a unique blog address of yours with RSS installed! You can send your blog link to anyone, so the people can see all your (public) drops and can subscribe to your drop.io blog to see all the updates)

7. Off course password protect your drops.
